At Altogether Water, we strive to provide our valued customers with the highest standards of service and transparency. In our ongoing commitment to ensuring clarity and fairness, we have made some small but significant updates to our Water Customer Contract These changes, effective from 1 July 2023, aim to enhance the customer experience while aligning with industry standards and addressing evolving needs. In this blog post, we will outline the key changes in the updated contract to keep you informed and empowered.
Introducing an unmetered water supply charge:
To accurately reflect the costs associated with providing unmetered water supply, we have introduced a new charge. This charge ensures that customers contribute fairly to the maintenance and availability of water resources, promoting responsible usage and sustainability.
Introducing a 'reasonable use' wastewater discharge rate:
Residential customers connected to our pressure sewer system will now have a 'reasonable use' wastewater discharge rate set at an average of 600 litres per day. This measure encourages efficient wastewater management and helps maintain the integrity and functionality of our sewer systems.
Including an excess wastewater charge:
To incentivize responsible wastewater discharge, we have introduced an excess wastewater charge for residential customers connected to our pressure sewer system. This charge applies when wastewater is discharged either at an average rate exceeding the 'reasonable use' rate of 600 litres per day or during storm events, where the volume significantly exceeds that of dry weather days. This adjustment is necessary to address stormwater infiltration issues and promote sustainable wastewater practices.
Clarifying Altogether's right to recover costs:
To ensure fairness in our customer relationships, we have clarified Altogether's right to charge customers for costs and expenses incurred as a result of the customer's breach of contract. This clarification helps maintain the stability and efficiency of our operations while discouraging any non-compliance that may impact the quality of our services.
Clarifying Altogether's rights regarding defective or unauthorized work or interference:
We have also updated the contract to outline Altogether's rights in cases of defective or unauthorized work or interference. This includes the ability to recover costs and expenses incurred by Altogether due to such actions. These provisions are crucial to protect our infrastructure and ensure a safe and reliable water supply for all customers.
Removing legacy or redundant terms:
To streamline the contract and improve readability, we have removed legacy or redundant terms that are no longer applicable or necessary. This update reduces ambiguity and allows for a clearer understanding of the rights and responsibilities outlined in the contract.
Consequential updates:
As part of our commitment to staying current with regulatory requirements and best practices, we have made consequential updates to the contract. These updates include changes to website links, policies, or source documents that are referenced in the contract. By ensuring alignment with the latest information, we maintain transparency and enable customers to access the most up-to-date resources.
At Altogether Water, we value our customers' trust and strive to provide reliable services while adapting to changing needs. The key changes in our updated Water Customer Contract, effective from 1 July 2023, reflect our commitment to transparency, fairness, and sustainable water management. We believe these updates will enhance the customer experience and contribute to a more efficient and resilient water supply system.
